CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — The teenager accused of raping an 83-year-old woman appeared in court Friday.
Police said the woman was sitting on the porch of her north Charlotte apartment Wednesday evening when 16-year-old Robert McFadden forced her inside and raped her.

A large group of the victim's family members was in court Friday for McFadden's first appearance.
"My mother is a fragile little 88-pound woman, so I can just about imagine the horror that she felt," Catherine Jiminez said.
In March, McFadden was charged with assaulting a 72-year-old woman about a mile from his home. He was initially scheduled to appear in court Friday on those charges.
Police said the woman who was raped Wednesday also lives near McFadden.
"I cannot imagine something like that happening, especially in this neighborhood," one neighbor said.
McFadden was arrested Thursday afternoon after police were called to a home break-in on Osage Circle. He is charged as an adult with rape, kidnapping and breaking and entering.
He is being held in Mecklenburg County Jail on a $138,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court again early next month.
