CONCORD, N.C.,None — Police have identified the suspect accused of shooting a woman inside a busy Concord gas station Friday afternoon.
Officers are actively searching for Ladrawde Edward Davis, 29, of Charlotte. He's wanted on a number of charges, including attempted first-degree murder, kidnapping and possession of stolen goods.
Police said the shooting started as a domestic situation, stemming from an argument in the parking lot that spilled over into the Shell Station on Davidson Highway. The store is also attached to a McDonald's restaurant.
Witnesses on the scene told Eyewitness News a man and woman pulled up to the gas pumps in a gold car. Customer Jed Drye said he was two pumps over when he heard yelling.
"The gold car parked at the pumps and the lady got out yelling, saying help," Drye said, remembering what he saw.
Daniel Richardson, a cashier at the gas station, said he had just pulled into the parking lot when everything unfolded in front of him.
"She was running and I saw her go behind the counter from the outside," he said. "Then I saw him kind of jog in there, and then that's when you just heard the loud sounds."
Another clerk in the store told Eyewitness News the woman ran in screaming for someone to call the police and hid behind the counter. The clerk said the suspect came in and reached over the counter and shot her multiple times in the face, back and leg.
Witnesses outside said Davis ran out of the store and got back in his gold car and drove off. The victim was rushed to the hospital.
Channel 9 discovered a criminal history for Davis in Mecklenburg County. It included three arrests on charges of assault on a female.
Anyone knowing his location is asked to call the Concord Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 704-920-5000 or Cabarrus Crime Stoppers at 704-93CRIME (704-932-7463).
