Family members and former colleagues of a South Carolina sheriff's deputy who died from injuries sustained during a mass shooting earlier this month remembered her as a dedicated peace officer always wearing a smile.
The funeral for Florence County Sheriff's Investigator Farrah Turner was held Sunday.
Turner died on Oct. 22, 19 days after she was shot in what authorities said was an ambush on her and two other deputies at a home in an upscale Florence County subdivision. They were there investigating possible sexual abuse of a minor.
Federick Hopkins, 74, is charged with two counts of murder and five counts of attempted murder.
Florence Police Sgt. Terrence Carraway died that day and three city officers were injured.
