Police: Off-duty South Carolina trooper arrested and stunned

CHARLESTON, S.C. — A South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper has been fired and arrested on several charges including disorderly conduct.

News outlets report 22-year-old Malik McCown was charged Wednesday after being found highly intoxicated and aggressive.

Charleston County Sheriff's Public Information Officer Roger Antonio says deputies responded to call of an unknown male attempting to enter a home with a key.

When deputies arrived, they found McCown asleep on the caller's front porch. McCown was uncooperative and aggressive toward deputies. Deputies deployed their stun guns and took McCown into custody.

Highway Patrol Capt. R. K. Hughes says McCown was fired Wednesday for improper conduct unbecoming of a state employee.

It's unclear whether McCown has an attorney.
