GASTON COUNTY — The surging number of rabies cases in Gaston County has officials and residents worried.
Last year, there were only three confirmed cases of rabies in the county. In 2019, nine cases have already been confirmed.
State specialists are trying to understand why the numbers are on the rise as veterinarians warn how dangerous the disease is.
