On Sunday afternoon, police said a man was stabbed to death in a car parked outside of the Advenir Apartments, located off Central Avenue. Witnesses said a man and a woman parked their car next to the victim's Honda Accord and then got into the Accord, according to police.
Officers said the three then had some type of altercation.
Police arrested Danielle Holmes and Jonathan Fitzgerald in Cabarrus County on Sunday night and charged both of them with murder in connection with the stabbing.
Investigators said the victim, whose name has not been released, met the suspects to sell them heroin, and that the suspects robbed and stabbed the victim during the transaction.
Police are still searching for the man who fatally shot 46-year-old Jamal Salih during a robbery at an Internet sweepstakes store on Tuckaseegee Road on Saturday afternoon.
Salih fought against the robber before being shot, according to police.
Some area residents said the neighborhood has seen more than its share of violence.
"Every time you turn around, somebody is getting killed or somebody is getting hurt," Melody Wilks said.
Police said another shooting happened at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday, after a party near Grimes Street and Norris Avenue in north Charlotte.
One person was shot in the leg and another was shot in the chest, police said. The man who was shot in the chest, 24-year-old Jonathan Jackson, died at an area hospital, police said. The person who was shot in the leg was treated and released from a hospital, police said.
Officers arrested 21-year-old Vernon Davis on Sunday in connection with the shooting.
"That scares me," said Glenda Pyant, who said she has lived on Grimes Street for more than 40 years. "That makes me think about my surroundings, that I'm going to have to look behind me when I come out my door now."
Anyone with information about any of these incidents is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak to a homicide detective.
