MONROE, N.C.,None — A woman told Eyewitness News she quit her job at a popular Monroe restaurant after she says the owner sexually assaulted her.
The woman said she was working at Spiro's Hilltop Fish Fare & Steakhouse on Saturday. In the warrant, she alleges that 55-year-old Spirydon Kaltsounis touched her breast, abdomen and buttocks by force.
Kaltsounis was arrested on Sunday and later released on bond.
"I'm shocked because he's so involved with the public," customer Courtney Miller said of the sexual battery charge.
"I just wouldn't think that he would be of that nature," customer Tommy Duncan said.
The woman accusing Kaltsounis said it was difficult to come forward but that she went to police and then left her job.
Eyewitness News spoke off-camera with several employees and left a detailed message with them requesting a response from Kaltsounis but did not hear back.
He is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 30.
