Ocean Isle Beach deck collapses, several injured

OCEAN ISLE BEACH, N.C. — A deck collapsed Monday at a home in Ocean Isle Beach, injuring several people.

Ocean Isle Beach Mayor Debbie Sloane Smith told news outlets that the incident occurred during the afternoon. Smith said she was told a group of people had gathered on a set of stairs for a photo when the structure gave way.

Smith said several people were taken to a hospital, including some who were airlifted. The severity of the injuries was not immediately clear.
