GASTONIA, N.C. — North Carolina authorities are investigating the death of an inmate in the Gaston County Jail.
The Gaston County Sheriff's Office said jail personnel tried CPR on the 56-year-old man after he was found unresponsive Sunday, but couldn't revive him.
The man's name was being withheld so family could be notified.
Sheriff Alan Cloninger told The Gaston Gazette that he couldn't say anything more now that the case is in the hands of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
