FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Authorities are investigating a possible murder-suicide shooting at a Fayetteville home that left two people dead and an infant wounded.
The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office tells local news outlets that the incident occurred Wednesday evening.
Officials were dispatched to the home after a 7-year-old called authorities to report that his mother had been shot. Upon arrival, deputies found the bodies of a man and woman. The woman appeared to have been killed with a firearm and the man appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Deputies also found an infant with gunshot wounds to the chest. The child was taken to a hospital.
Two other children were found in the home.
The investigation is ongoing.
