New Invention Pours 56 Beers Per Minute

Charlotte’s craft beer scene is growing, so stop by a local brewery to see what the buzz is about. Take your pick between Birdsong Brewing, Four Friends, NoDa Brewing Co. and Olde Mecklenburg Brewery.

MONTESANO, Wash.,None — Those long beer lines at the ballgame could become a thing of the past with a new invention called Bottom's Up Draft that fills beers faster than you can think.

Josh Springer from Montesano, Wash. came up with the idea to create a machine that pours draft beer nine times faster than traditional methods, according to Yahoo Sports.

Spinger and his start-up company, GrinOn Industries, came up with the Bottom's Up Draft Beer Dispensing System.

A YouTube video of beers being filled from the bottom up at lighting speed has gone viral online.

The key to the inner workings is the use of a cup that features a hole in the bottom with a small magnet covering the hole. When pressed onto the beer machine, the magnet gets lifted up by the flow and beer fills the cup, from bottom to top. When finished the magnet is pushed down by the weight of the liquid.

Those days of standing in line, watching one person behind the counter trying to keep up with the pace, spilling beer everywhere are over.

Springer said that stadiums have begun to use his system and can deliver 56 draft beers in one minute, which is an unofficial world record.

The Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas was a beta site for a Supercross race and was amazed when fans gathered around just to watch the cups fill up, according to Yahoo Sports.

"People were holding their children up just to see it," said Joe Carter, director of food and beverage at the Thomas and Mack Center.

The system has also been used temporarily at Los Angeles Angels games and poolside at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The innovation is taking off and the popularity is welcomed by Springer. Springer told Yahoo Sports, "It's a good place to be in. I need to hire more people."
