Muggsy Bogues Holding Basketball Camp, School Supplies Drive

CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — A former NBA star is using basketball to help kids get ready for school in Matthews.

Muggsy Bogues is holding a school supply drive along with a basketball camp this week at the Crews Road Recreation Center in Matthews.

The supply donations will go to students of Crestdale Middle School.

Bogues said the camp helps teach fundamentals of the game and gives the kids positive encouragement.

"Any time you come out and support the youth, it is a plus," Bouges said. "No matter what area you are from or where you are from, it's always a positive message when you go out there and show support."

The camp and supply drive runs through Friday.

Channel 9's annual School Tools collection is under way and you can donate supplies now at any BB&T, Ashley Furniture Homestores and Hendrick Honda in the Charlotte area.
