MORGANTON, N.C.,None — Chick-fil-A on Enola Road will shutter its doors Wednesday, and the future of the fast-food restaurant in Morganton is uncertain.
Due to upcoming construction on Enola Road next year, North Carolina Department of Transportation has asked the restaurant to move out by Wednesday, local Chick-fil-A owner Dallas Stoudenmire said.
"As of right now we do not have a site to put a store up in Morganton, but that is our intention," Stoudenmire said.
Corporate administrators will make the decision on the new site, Stoudenmire said.
And for now, Chick-fil-A is not releasing any information regarding relocating the restaurant, corporate public relations representative Brenda Morrow said in an email.
"However, Chick-fil-A would like to thank every customer who may have patronized our restaurant in Morganton, N.C.," Morrow wrote. "We have been a part of the Morganton community for the last 11.5 years, and we are deeply saddened to leave the Morganton community."
Stoudenmire echoed the feelings.
"We're getting comments from the community upset and sad we're leaving," Stoudenmire said. "I can tell every one of them that people that work here are just as sad to be leaving the community and cannot wait to get back."
