STATESVILLE, N.C.,None — A Statesville man is facing charges after authorities said a victim located his stolen car and forklift at a garage in Iredell County.
Charlie Andrew Weaver, 20, of Statesville was arrested on charges of larceny and obtaining property by false pretense.
On July 6, Deputy Nic Landis of the Iredell County Sheriff's Office went to Stewart's Garage on Amity Hill Road to meet with Douglas Haneline, who said he'd located his stolen property at the garage.
Haneline told deputies that the car and forklift were stolen from his property on Amity Hill Road. After noticing the items were missing, Haneline said, he called around to different scrap metal dealers and found the items were at Stewart's. The car had already been crushed.
The car and vehicle were sold the Stewart's for $1,476.60 by Weaver, said Iredell Sheriff Phil Redmond.
Detective Sgts. Brian Boyd and Scott Hall followed up on the case.
Weaver cooperated with authorities and admitted to stealing the items and selling them to Stewart's. Weaver received a $50,000 bond.
This investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible.
