CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — A man has been charged in a hit-and-run crash that killed 55-year-old Robert Gunter Hall.
Mache Darby, 26, was arrested and charged with felony hit and run, driving while license revoked and possession of marijuana.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Darby hit Hall while he was attempting to cross Albemarle Road on Saturday night. Darby did not stop after the crash, police said.
Hall was taken to Carolinas Medical Center after the crash, where he later died. Detectives said Hall may have been homeless and has no family in Charlotte.
On Monday, police released a description of the black Cadillac they said was involved in the crash. Later that day, they arrested Darby. Investigators said a Crime Stoppers tip they received was "invaluable" to the investigation.
