CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — Residents of Caldwell County were remembering Zahra Baker on what would have been her 18th birthday Thursday.

Jake and Pricilla Icenhour placed balloons Thursday morning around the little girl’s memorial east of Hudson.

Some of Zahra's remains were found feet from the memorial in 2010. She was just 10 years old when she disappeared.

Icenhour hopes the balloons and the memorial remind people to report child abuse when they see it.

"If this helps one kid -- just one -- all the money, the pain is worth it,” said Jake. “Just one kid."
