CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — Rats. They're the four-legged creatures that no one wants to see scurrying across counter tops or nestled in the cabinets, but they can be found almost everywhere.
d-CON, the people who make traps to capture and kill all types of bugs and vermin, recently ran a survey to determine which neighborhood in Charlotte are the "rattiest."
"Your home is a place for sharing good times with friends and family, not for harboring unwanted pests," said Christine van den Broeck, Senior Brand Manager, d-CON. "The survey demonstrates which neighborhoods Charlotte residents deemed the 'rattiest' and what they would do if they saw a rodent in their home."
The results are surprising. The following neighborhoods are perceived to be the "rattiest" in Charlotte:
Uptown (43%)
NoDa (36%)
Derita (30%)
University City (29%)
Biddleville (24%)
Ashley Park (24%)
Chantilly (19%)
Cotswald (18%)
Historic South End (17%)
Dilworth (17%)
Myers Park (15%)
Highland Creek (14%)
Ballantyne (13%)
Nearly half of those polled reported seeing a mouse or rat in their home. Half of those surveyed said they would use a mouse trap or some kind of bait if they saw a mouse.
One in 5 said they would let out a "good scream," the study reports.
Mice and rats ranked the third most feared pests, in Charlotte at least, falling behind snakes and termites.
