‘Armed and dangerous’ murder suspect in custody, York police say

YORK, S.C. — Officials at the York Police Department said they have a suspect in custody who was wanted for attempted murder.

Police said Denareay Pendergrass, 32, shot a man multiple times Thursday around 8 p.m.

The shooting happened in the 400 block of Hickory Lane, police said.

The victim, a 44-year-old man, is expected to survive.

York police said Pendergrass is considered armed and dangerous.

Pendergrass was taken into custody without incident at 3 p.m. Friday.

The suspect was taken to the Moss Justice Center where he will have a bond hearing.
