HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — A Huntersville teenager is behind bars after Xanax pills, LSD, handguns and nearly $10,000 in cash were found in his parents' home, police said.

Officers with the Huntersville Police Department said federal agents tipped them off about 18-year-old Anthony Byrnes.

According to court documents, US Customs and Border Protection seized a package that was addressed to Byrnes and found drugs inside.

Officials said Huntersville police then organized a controlled delivery of the package and when Byrnes accepted it, he was arrested.

According to documents, the teen admitted to receiving a package containing controlled substances to his house about every one to three days.

Police told Channel 9 that Byrnes lived at home with his parents and that the feds helped them take out a search warrant at the house.

Inside, police said they found nearly 4,500 Xanax pills, more than 1,000 hits of LSD, handguns -- one of which was stolen -- and wads of cash.

The teen said he gives the packages of drugs to people who pay him and sells some of the drugs to his own customers, according to court documents. The teen also said he keeps the guns for safety because of the large amount of drugs in his house.

Police said they don't typically see such large amounts of drugs in Huntersville.

"He had to be distributing it somewhere whether it be in the neighborhood or where he was hanging out," a concerned neighbor said.

Authorities couldn't say for certain if he was targeting other teenagers, but they were warning parents.

"It's very important they know what their kid is doing," said Lt. Brian Vaughan. "What is going on in and out of their house -- it's their home."

Byrnes turned 18 in March, and police said this is his second drug arrest since his birthday.
