CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Wrestling fans will recognize Charles Robinson, from getting between some of the biggest names in wrestling on the small screen.

But the WWE referee is a big fan of horror films on the silver screen.

“This is what I call my horror room, it’s just a lot of the collectibles. I have left over from years and years of collecting,” said Charles Robinson as he showed Eyewitness News the inside of his south Charlotte home.

His quirky collection is expansive.

“I just feel at home, its relaxing. Most people wouldn't be relaxed by all this mayhem, but I’m relaxed, I love it,” Robinson said.

It took him 40 years to build the collection which he hopes to pass on to his daughter one day.

But it’s a little smaller these days

“I cried a little,” he said.

More than 400 other action figures, mint condition Evil Knievel toys and other collectibles Robinson kept in a storage unit on Ardrey Kell were stolen.  The thief, apparently cutting their way into the unit from above.

The discovery, was Robinson's real life nightmare.

“Oh, (my) heart was broken,” said Robinson.

CMPD detectives are investigating the theft at Extra Space Storage. Robinson says he was told his unit was the only unit hit.

“That shocked me,” he said.

Robinson's stolen items are worth around $50,000.

But their value, “Priceless, priceless, irreplaceable,” he said.

Robinson found his JAWS item being sold on eBay.  He reached out to the seller, offering to buy it back.

“The guy closed his account and took the item off, of course,” Robinson said.

He's passed all that information along to police and to eBay.  Meanwhile other internet sleuths have been reaching out to him with leads.

“Everyone's been really, really good in helping to solve this and to help me to replace what I lost,” said Robinson.

“I would love for the storage unit facility to fix the problems they have,” he said.
