A North Carolina woman just set a record she hopes will inspire other women.
Tara Dower hiked the Mountains-to-Sea Trail, which is from the Great Smoky Mountains to the Outer Banks, in 29 days.
According to WLOS, She started her trek on Sept. 1 on Clingman’s Dome in the Great Smoky Mountains, where it connects to the Appalachian Trail and finished Wednesday at Jockey’s Ridge on the Outer Banks. The entire 1,175-mile journey took 29 days, 8 hours and 48 minutes -- the fastest known time in history.

Dower said she started her days at 3 a.m., covering more than 40 miles a day -- sometimes on trails, sometimes on roads.
“There was gorgeous days in the mountains, there was really terrible hard days on the roads. It was hot, it was cold, you have the mountains the piedmont and the coastal region,” she said.
Despite her sore feet, Dower said it was worth it.
She had a support crew along the way to help coordinate overnight camping spots.
