LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. — Lancaster County deputies are investigating after finding a woman's body at a vacant mobile home Tuesday in the Rich Hill community.
When they arrived at the house on Spirit Road, investigators said they found the body of Kimberly Alger, 36, near the steps leading to the back porch.
The death appears suspicious, authorities said.
Neighbors Channel 9 spoke with said the house has been empty for years, and they haven't seen anything suspicious.
Deputies said the body had been there for days. They said this was not a random event, and they don't believe there's a danger to the community.
Channel 9 asked about how the body was found. Deputies wouldn't say, but a neighbor told us this:
"The officer we spoke to told us that a call had come in that somebody had put a note on the door to rent it and found the body,” neighbor Laura Adams said.
Investigators do not know whether the woman died where she was found or at another location.

“Although we cannot release any other details at this time, we do have promising information we are pursuing and hope to have answers soon,” Sheriff Barry Faile said. “We are investigating this as a homicide and will continue down that path pending the autopsy results.”
An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
