CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A woman told Channel 9 she was walking in her Charlotte neighborhood on Wednesday when a man she didn’t know made remarks at her from his car window.
She said he followed her again the next day and then attacked her.
"I felt so vulnerable in that moment that I was in shock,” said the woman who didn’t want to be identified.
The incident happened on Wallace Avenue in east Charlotte.
Since then, she said she’s been paralyzed by fear after the man attempted to kidnap her.
“He was enraged because I was ignoring him,” the woman said.
She said the man appeared to be in his late 20s, and she recalls him wearing a construction worker uniform and driving a black four-door sedan with damage to the front bumper.
Police said they haven’t made any arrests.
"I panicked. I started walking faster and faster and he kept following me,” she said.
The woman said she was continuously harassed, and the man asked for her phone number.
She said she continued to walk away and ignore the man before he lunged out of the car with rage.
"I could tell he was really strong,” she said. “I started pulling away, but he was dragging me towards his car."
The woman said her daughter called, and that may have saved her life.
"My phone rang and I somehow answered, and it was my daughter and I said, ‘Help me! Help me!' And that's when he let me go,” the woman said.
She said her attacker threatened to hurt her again before running off.
"That this wasn't how it's going to end, that he would find me,” she said.
