CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating after a woman was shot and killed at southeast Charlotte apartment complex Monday morning.
The shooting happened just before 11 a.m. at an apartment complex on Montague Street, off North Sharon Amity and Monroe roads.
When officers got to the complex, they found Aviana Carter, 21, with a gunshot wound. MEDIC took her to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
CMPD charged Dashae McCain, 22, with murder.
Authorities have not said what led up to the shooting.
No other information has been released.

This comes just hours after a deadly shooting at an impromptu block party on Beatties Ford Road late Sunday night. Police said two people were killed and eight others were treated for gunshot wounds.
In addition, five others were hurt when cars hit them as they tried to run from the bullets.
