CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A woman has died after she was seriously hurt Friday evening in a hit-and-run in NoDa, officials said.
Billie Holt Bradshaw was sent to Atrium Health Carolina’s Medical Center with serious injuries from the crash and later died.
Police said the man who was driving the vehicle fled the scene and was caught later that day.
Brandon Miller, 32, was charged with involuntary manslaughter, felony hit-and-run, misdemeanor hit-and-run and driving while license revoked.
Witnesses said Miller was driving northeast on The Plaza in an SUV when he went around a stopped vehicle. Bradshaw was crossing the street in front of the stopped vehicle, not in a crosswalk, when Miller struck her and did not stop, officials said.
Authorities later found the SUV damaged a few blocks away after the driver also hit a parked car while trying to flee the scene.
Investigators then found where the suspect lived and contacted residents at that address. They were able to get Miller to agree to come home and talk to detectives.
Police determined Miller was not impaired during the crash.
The crash is still under investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
