CHARLOTTE — A woman was killed after being struck by a truck in north Charlotte on Thursday night, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said.
Officers responded after 9 p.m. to the 6400 block of Old Statesville Road for a pedestrian who was hit by a car and lying in the road.

Valerie Williams, 65, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC.
CMPD said officers on scene learned that a dark-colored Chevrolet pickup truck fled the scene after hitting Williams.
With the public’s help, CMPD said the suspect and truck were found nearby.
Earl Crisco, 43, was identified by police as the driver of the truck. He was arrested for felony hit-and-run and his truck was seized.

Impairment or speed were not believed to be a factor in the crash, police said.
Toxicology results are pending to determine if impairment was a factor for Williams, police said.
CMPD said the investigation was ongoing.
