Police identified the victim the next day as Dana Jackson Robinson, 44, who lives on the street.
Channel 9 crews were there as Gaston County police blocked off the residential community during the investigation.
Initial reports indicated Robinson was struck by a vehicle in a hit and run, and further investigation revealed the homicide occurred during the felony theft of a vehicle, according to police.
Later Monday, Gaston County Police, with help from Lowell and Ranlo Police, located two suspects — Ashley Nicole Martin and Tabatha Lee Dingess — believed to have fled the scene after the woman’s death, as well as the two vehicles they fled in.
Martin, 32, of Lowell, and Dingess, 38, of Stanley, are being held without bond at Gaston County Jail.
