CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A woman hid in her garage in the middle of the day after she saw a man breaking into her northwest Charlotte home, police said.

She called 911 shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday when she said Isiah Davis, 30, rang the doorbell and knocked on her door. She didn’t recognize the suspicious man who then started pulling on a window screen when no one answered the door.
She hid and contacted police, who arrived and set up a perimeter around the home off of Sunset Road.

A resident provided information about Davis that matched a description provided to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department investigators.
Officers located Davis and he tried to run but was arrested. He had also had a firearm.
Davis was charged with breaking and/or entering, possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon and resist/obstruct/delay.
“The combined efforts of a concerned citizen, North Division Crime Reduction Unit and officers made it possible to remove one more criminal off the streets of our community,” CMPD said in a news release.
