CONWAY, S.C. — A South Carolina woman had an unwelcome guest arrive at her door this weekend.
A 9-foot, 250-pound alligator wandered onto Shatrina Greenwood's front porch in Conway, South Carolina, Channel 9's news partners ABC15/WPDE reported.
She called 911, and then sat down next to the alligator with only a screen door between them.
“I pretty much sat right here and stayed here the whole time looking at his eyes, because I needed to keep an eye on his eyes," Greenwood said.
Russel Cavender, a wildlife removal expert known as the snake chaser, captured the unexpected guest.
"It wore me out, that was tough," said Cavender. "Getting rolled over, sometimes you snare them and they'll get up on you and they'll roll on your shins and scrape the skin on your shins. That's about the worst of it, that's what I got last night a pretty raw shin."
He said it is mating season for alligators, so residents should expect to see the reptiles in places they don’t usually frequent.
