Woman concerned about her mother’s care at south Charlotte assisted living facility

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A woman says her mother wasn’t getting the care she deserved at a south Charlotte assisted living facility.

She thinks Charlotte Square Senior Living is short staffed. She told Channel 9 that one resident even walked out of the building and could have wandered into traffic.

The facility is along busy Carmel Road, just north of Highway 51.

“It’s not just about my mom. It’s about other people, and doing the right thing and providing care for a group of people who can’t always advocate for themselves,” Kristin White said.

>> In the video at the top of the page, Eyewitness News reporter Mark Becker is learning the state is now investigating those concerns.

Statement from Charlotte Square:

“The safety of residents is our top priority. We take these matters seriously and are taking appropriate measures to address this situation. We are committed to maintaining appropriate staffing levels as dictated by the state of North Carolina. COVID-19 has presented many challenges for senior living communities over the past year and we remain dedicated to keeping our residents and staff safe.”
