CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A new police unit has been assigned to a popular area for joggers after an assault on a woman and another incident that involved a man who fits the same description.
The man attacked the first woman on the morning of Jan. 24 along Tyvola Road near Park Road Park, Charlotte police said.
The assailant grabbed the woman from behind, and when she screamed, he fled.

Another woman said she was jogging on a stretch of greenway on that same day about a half-mile south when a man fitting that same description tried to stop her.
“I've never really been concerned about my safety before, running on the trail,” jogger Rachel Blackwelder said. “So, definitely something to consider.”
There is no description available of the attacker, who is still on the run.
