MECKLENBURG CO., N.C. — Reporter Blake Hanson reported from the federal courthouse that a judge paved the way for Fathia Davis to be released from jail under several conditions Friday.
Federal investigators said Davis, a Mecklenburg County school nurse supervisor, tried to hire someone to kill her ex-husband.
According to court documents, the person she tried to hire went to police and that's when undercover detectives got involved.
Investigators said Davis tried to pay those detectives and prosecutors filed charges earlier this week.
Friday a judge set her bond at $100,000 and ordered that she give up her firearm.
She will be monitored by GPS and cannot come in contact with her ex-husband.
The judge also ordered a mental health evaluation.
Mecklenburg County officials said Davis worked for them for nearly two years and was the nurse supervisor for school health for the last three months.
She worked with CMS staff and administrators overseeing nursing staff.
She is suspended without pay pending what happens with the case.
