Woman accused of trying to take 2 children sent to jail

SALISBURY, N.C. — The woman accused of trying to kidnap to young children in Salisbury is in jail.

Thelma Kollie, 37, was evaluated by doctors at Rowan Regional Hospital after officers said she tried to take an 11-year-old and a 2-year-old Thursday night.

The children’s mother said Kollie was speaking in tongues when she approached her.

"She was chanting and speaking in tongues and saying all the children needed to come with her and that we're her followers," Charlene Miller said. "She told me that God was going to break my arm if I hit her."

The children were not hurt.
