CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Friends and family gathered Sunday to honor the lives of a 7-year-old boy and a woman who were shot and killed during gang gun violence over Labor Day weekend.
Both were among 12 people shot, five of which died, in a streak of deadly shootings last weekend.

The funeral for Kevin Rodas started at 2 p.m. at Rosedal Funeral parlor, while the funeral for Laquanta Young started at 2:30 p.m. at Saint Luke Missionary Baptist Church.

Police have not made any arrests in the series of deadly shootings across Charlotte over the holiday weekend, including the killing Rodas, who was killed while playing in the front yard at a birthday party.
