In 2021, Winthrop police released a sketch of a man who was accused of going into a student’s dorm room and sexually assaulting her. That person was never found.
Since then, students have complained about the need for more safety measures on campus.
“This is a case from two years ago. There is no threat to the community. Campus police is investigating to obtain more information. The chief hopes to know more later this week,” Winthrop’s police chief said in a statement.
The chief also said there was no reason to believe this case could be connected to the incident from November 2021.
