Winthrop University down to 3 finalists in search for next President

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Winthrop University has narrowed its search to three candidates as it looks to fill the top position at the college.

The Board of Trustees for the public institution in Rock Hill named three finalists for the position of University President on Friday.

The final candidates are Edward Serna, president at the University of Maine Farmington; Martin Roth, president of the University of Charleston in Charleston, West Virginia; and Neal Weaver, president of Georgia Southwestern State University.

A decision is expected in the next two weeks according to a release from the school, and an official announcement is “tentatively” planned by the end of the month.

Candidate are schedule to make a presentation and attend a public meet-and-greet sometime later this week.

The new president will begin work July 1.
