CHARLOTTE — School districts are changing plans for learning on Friday in anticipation of inclement weather.
A Winter Storm Warning was issued starting Friday at 7 a.m. and it will last through Saturday morning.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will close on Friday and implement a full day of remote learning, district officials said.

Alexander County Schools
Alexander County Schools will have a virtual learning day.

Anson County Schools
Anson County Schools will have an early dismissal Friday. All Elementary Schools will dismiss at 11 a.m. All Middle and High Schools will dismiss at noon. All afterschool programs, events, practices, and activities will be canceled on Friday and Saturday.
Ashe County Schools
Ashe County Schools will operate remotely Friday.
Cabarrus County Schools
Cabarrus County Schools will be closed on Friday. There will not be a make-up day due to additional hours built into the calendar. KIDS: PLUS will not operate Friday. All athletic, extra-curricular, and community use events and activities are canceled for Friday through Sunday.
Caldwell County Schools
Caldwell County Schools will dismiss three hours early on Friday. Afterschool Wraparound will be closed. District offices will close at 2 p.m.
Catawba County Schools
Catawba County Schools will be closed Friday with an optional teacher workday. QUEST will also be closed. The district-wide spelling bee is postponed and is rescheduled for Feb. 7.
Chester County Schools
Chester County Schools will move to a remote learning day. All after-school activities and athletic events scheduled for Friday-Sunday will also be canceled.
Fort Mill Schools
Fort Mill schools and district facilities will be closed. The district will transition to eLearning for the day. All afterschool activities and sporting events are canceled.
Gaston County Schools
Gaston County Schools will be remote. All school events, including athletics, are canceled Friday and this weekend.
Iredell-Statesville Schools
Iredell-Statesville Schools will operate on a remote learning day on Friday.
Kannapolis City Schools
There will be no school for students Friday. There will also be no after-school activities
Lancaster County Schools
Lancaster County Schools will have an eLearning day. All Lancaster County schools, buildings, and facilities will be closed. All events and activities are canceled for Friday through Sunday.
Lincoln County Schools
Lincoln County Schools will be closed.
Rock Hill Schools
RHS will have eLearning on Friday with all extracurricular activities canceled on Friday and Saturday.
Rowan County-Salisbury Schools
Friday will be a remote eLearning day for students.
Stanly County Schools
Stanly County Schools will be closed for students on Friday. All school activities are canceled Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Union County Public Schools
Union County Public Schools will be closed for students on Friday, Jan. 10. There is no remote instruction for students. A make-up day is not needed.
York County
All four York County school districts will conduct a virtual eLearning day on Friday. Check your district for details.
NCDOT preps
The North Carolina Department of Transportation gave an update Thursday morning on their plans to protect people from the winter weather.
Several roads across Charlotte have already been treated.
NCDOT said its workers will be on 12-hour shifts to respond to any issues once the storm starts.
Charlotte Douglas International Airport has airport workers and about 40 trucks on standby to de-ice planes and remove snow from runways.

Across the Charlotte metro, Channel 9′s Eli Brand reports people are stocking up on essentials at grocery stores.
Duke Energy suggested you get bottled water and nonperishable food, and charge devices just in case ice knocks the power out.
