HICKORY, N.C. — Police are investigating a homicide after a man was found shot to death in his living room Sunday.
It happened just before 1 a.m. along 8th Avenue Drive SE in Hickory.
When officers got to the house, they found 59-year-old Marty Brown lying on the couch in the living room with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the initial investigation, Brown’s wife reported she was sleeping in their bedroom when two unknown women woke her and said her husband was hurt.
Both women left the house, and Brown’s wife said she found her husband unresponsive on the couch.
Investigators later identified and found the two women, but they do not consider them to be suspects at this time.
Authorities have not said what led up to the shooting and no arrests have been made.
