Why North Carolina will soon lose its perch as top solar state in the Southeast

RALEIGH, N.C. — Florida will pass North Carolina as the top solar state in the Southeast — and the second-ranking solar state in the nation — next year, said a new report by the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy.

Florida’s ascendance and the likelihood that it would pass North Carolinas have been clear for some time. 

But the Sunshine State is now expected to take the lead sooner than anyone had forecast before, according to SACE’s latest Solar in the Southeast report, issued Tuesday.
