CHARLOTTE — The U.S. National Whitewater Center is expanding its footprint across the southeast.
On Wednesday, the company announced the opening of three new locations: Whitewater Pisgah in western North Carolina; Whitewater Santee in the low country of South Carolina; and Whitewater Grayson in the highlands of southwest Virginia.
Whitewater will offer accommodations, guiding services, events, instruction, rentals, and other hospitality services immediately through Whitewater Pisgah and Whitewater Santee. Whitewater Grayson will be available to the public beginning in 2023.
In addition, Whitewater now operates Long Lines Climbing in Sioux City, Iowa, which offers climbing, fitness and yoga. A grand opening event for Long Lines will be held on June 12.
The company has also launched Gravelmap, an online mapping resource featuring thousands of miles of gravel routes across six continents.
“Whitewater’s focus is to identify, protect, and promote compelling destinations to get outside. The southeastern United States was a logical starting point because of the remarkable recreational amenities available in this part of the world,” said Jeff Wise, CEO of Whitewater, in a news release.
“Whitewater has a 21-year track record of creating active experiences and providing access opportunities to the outdoor lifestyle. Our familiarity with this region allows us to showcase what we consider to be the best assets the southeast has to offer,” Wise added.
