CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte Business Journal has resumed its monthly review of health-code inspections for restaurants in Mecklenburg County. Such inspections had been largely put on pause for about two months after the state ordered that restaurants halt dine-in service on March 17 to help stem the spread of Covid-19.

Gov. Roy Cooper on May 22 allowed restaurants to reopen at 50% capacity in the second of his three-phase plan to reopen North Carolina’s economy. Some restaurants, however, have opted to keep their dining rooms shut for the time being, while others are offering takeout or delivery service only.
Cooper could lift additional business restrictions as early as July 17.
A total of 577 restaurants, six of which scored below an “A,” were inspected in Mecklenburg County during May and June.
