CORNELIUS, N.C. — Olde Mecklenburg Brewery is finalizing the design for its Cornelius location.
OMB founder John Marrino told the Charlotte Business Journal he expects costs for that site to run between $8 million and $10 million. That’s in addition to $3 million already spent on the 24-acre wooded site on Zion Avenue for the project.
The Cornelius location will position OMB to capture a larger piece of the craft beer market share. The brewery’s South End taproom is its greatest marketing tool, Marrino says.
“If we’re going to be a Charlotte brewery, we need to get more people drinking our beer,” he says. “We think we can be successful and just be local.”
The goal is to wrap up the Cornelius project next fall, but initial planning is behind schedule, Marrino says.
