CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper will participate in a Charlotte-themed business pitch to United Kingdom companies next week in London, several days before his NFL team plays for the first time in England.
Tepper, a hedge fund trader with a personal fortune estimated at $12 billion, bought the Panthers in July 2018 for $2.275 billion. He is the NFL’s richest owner.
Tepper will be part of a panel discussion at Lloyd’s of London moderated by Michael Teden, a Charlotte resident and longtime British honorary consul for North Carolina. Janet LaBar, CEO of the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance, will appear on the panel with Tepper.
Additional presentations and panel discussions include one on U.S. business opportunities created from Brexit and “investor testimonials” from American and British representatives with knowledge of the Carolinas as a trade and investment site.
The event takes place Oct. 10, three days before the Panthers face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the billion-dollar Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a new football palace (as in soccer) that includes an NFL-dedicated field.
