CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Canopy, a boutique, lifestyle hotel brand by Hilton, has broken ground in SouthPark. That hotel will be the first to carry the Canopy flag in the Charlotte area as well as in the Carolinas.
Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc. and Charlotte-based Tara Investments are partnering to bring Canopy by Hilton to 6010 Fairview Road near Southpark mall, as first reported by Charlotte Business Journal last summer. That 150-room hotel is now underway behind Fairview Towers on a 2.8-acre site that’s part of a larger property designated for development of a mixed-use project.
The hotel, expected to open in SouthPark in the spring of 2020, will draw design inspiration from the property’s former use as a dairy farm, with interior features including millwork finishes, marble countertops and subtle earth tones, according to new details released by Hilton and Tara Investments.
The property’s 150 guest rooms, which include 16 suites, also will give a nod to the surrounding neighborhood through handpicked furnishings and artwork to reflect the “architectural design” of SouthPark as will the hotel’s art collection.
