CHARLOTTE, N.C. — HopFly Brewing Co. is prepping for its Charlotte debut.
The Rocky Mount brewery has acquired Unknown Brewing Co.’s assets and intellectual property. It also assumed the lease for its property at 1327 S. Mint St. in South End’s Gold District, says Cam Schulz, HopFly founder.
Plans call for HopFly to start renovations on that space by early September, Schulz says.
“We’re excited to be at this crossroads,” he says. “We’re absolutely in love with the location. Charlotte, to me, just has a palpable energy.”
The move comes as Charlotte’s Unknown Brewing Co. announced it was shifting away from craft beer after eight years, in favor of its craft ginger ale offering.
