'Definitely blessed’: Family living in motel makes best of learning from home situation

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Learning virtually inside a motel room is a challenging reality many local students are up against.

Channel 9 has been checking in regularly with Ethiopia Williams and her 9-year-old daughter Haleigha who are living in a motel during the pandemic. The family says they are blessed even though their living situation can be difficult, especially now with virtual learning.

Haleigha’s fourth-grade classroom sits in the corner of their bedroom, and that’s the same story for the hundreds of local students who also call motels their homes.

>> In the video at the top of the page, Channel 9′s Tony Sadiku asks the duo about the motivation they’re using to make the best of their learning from home situation.
