Wegmans Ballantyne rendering

CHARLOTTE — Wegmans Food Markets Inc. now owns 14.32 acres in Ballantyne, according to Mecklenburg County property records.

The Rochester, New York-based family-owned grocer finalized its acquisition of two parcels for its first store in the Charlotte market from NP BCP Land and NW Offices on Six — affiliated with developer Northwood Investors. The total cost was nearly $15.8 million.

Plans call for a 110,000-square-foot Wegmans store along North Community Road, on the east side of Ballantyne. The grocer has said it is targeting a third quarter 2026 opening for that store.
