Wawa to expand to North Carolina

CHARLOTTE — A popular convenience store and gas station chain is set to expand into North Carolina by 2024, representatives confirmed.

A representative with Wawa confirmed to Channel 9 reporter Joe Bruno that the company hopes to open its first stores in the state by the end of 2024.

“Over the years, we’ve been delighted to hear from so many people from so many areas, including North Carolina, who are interested in having a Wawa closer to home. I’m thrilled to confirm that we are continuing to spread our wings into new markets and neighborhoods, including North Carolina,” the statement read.

The representative could not confirm specific locations or timelines for construction but said the company is “actively looking into potential sites for new Wawa stores in the state.”

Wawa has more than 800 stores in states along the East Coast, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland.
