CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One lane on Parkwood Avenue at 18th Street in north Charlotte was closed Monday night as crews repaired a water main break.

Charlotte Water officials said that a contractor was to blame for the mishap on Parkwood Avenue.
Motorists are used to delays in the area because of construction.
“It holds up traffic especially during busy times,” driver Joseph Coppens said. “I come this way every day."
It’s the third water main break reported recently.
Last week, a break turned Freedom Drive at Moorhead into a River and it was the same in front of SouthPark Mall.
Stormwater officials said it is unusual to see three major pipes go at about the same time. They said it was a combination of factors that led to the problems.
