CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — Two men tried to rob a Caldwell County store at gunpoint early Friday morning only for the clerk to pull out his own pistol and open fire.
Channel 9′s Dave Faherty got his hands on the surveillance video of the attempted robbery, which lasted about 15 seconds.
The video shows the masked robbers enter Pappy’s Market in the Dudley Shoals community and when the store clerk tries to run, one of them points a handgun at him.
At that moment, the clerk can be seen pulling a weapon and he appears to fire the gun in at least two directions as the robbers run out of the business.

One of the suspects points his gun back at the clerk as he’s going out the front door of the business.
Detectives said no money was stolen and no one was hit by the gunfire.
Faherty talked to Jeff Yount, who said he’s owned the business for forty years.
“Anytime somebody brings a gun in my store, I don’t like it,” Yount said. “We are trying to be honest business people out here and do the best we can to serve the community.”
No arrests have been made.
